I must be on a roll here – today, I had a nice big smile as I opened my letterbox and saw an envelope from Radio Romania International. It’s another QSL card!
It’s so lovely to see it adorned with a few stamps – a boon for stamp collectors. I had never requested QSL from RRI before – so it comes as a surprise that they welcome reception reports so openly and essentially agree to a once-a-month QSL card offering. Most other broadcasters, perhaps with the exception of China Radio International, are not anywhere near as generous.
This one came with a letter, presumably “canned”, however extremely welcoming – it details many of their QSL and “diploma” programs for loyal long-time listeners. I must commend RRI for their extreme generosity.

They also included a schedule – in this case, a fold-out, foolscap (roughly) size brochure in full colour with pictures. Quite a lovely touch! I have not scanned in the schedule itself, but the outside of it – which summarizes their programs and their provision of more DRM services. Yay!
But that’s not all! They also sent me a sticker and a pocket calendar. Thanks RRI! Hopefully one day, you will be received with audio in DRM from my location.
Despite their implications of a once-a-month QSL card offering, I’m almost certain I will not claim QSL from them until such time something significant happens – after all, the cost of running these services are one reason why many broadcasters no longer offer QSL cards. At least this way, someone else may have a chance to claim a card.
